Hello people of the internet, in honor of everyone’s favorite day of the week, we will be discussing our ‘Friday Favorites’ for December 14th -December 20th. Ready!?! You sure!?! Ok let’s go!
3) I Have Nothing by Tessanne Chin Tessanne Chin: "I Have Nothing" - The Voice Highlight - YouTube (# 13 on the ITunes Pop Charts as of December 19th, 2013)
I really loved this performance by ‘The Voice’ season 5 winner Tessanne Chin; because I thought it was the perfect way for her to leave on a high note. Tessanne proved throughout the season that she is a powerhouse vocalist that can not only captivate you with her voice, but can also sing an array of songs. I thought it was really tenacious of her to sing a Whitney Houston classic as one of her finale songs (because let’s admit it, this is a difficult song to sing, and the pressure of a competition show finale has to make it even more difficult). Tessanne delivered this song perfectly, and it made me excited to see what’s on the horizon for the future super star.
2) Let It Go by Idina Menzel Idina Menzel - Let It Go (from "Frozen") - YouTube (#1 on the ITunes as December 19th, 2013)
I was so excited when I saw this song because Idina Menzel is one of my favorite vocalists. As always the Broadway superstar does an amazing job on this song from the soundtrack to Disney’s newest animated movie ‘Frozen’. On this track, Idina is able to use her impossibly perfect vocals to properly portray the emotions of the track, as well as deliver notes with mind shattering precision . Needless to say, I am a HUGE fan of this song, and definitely see it as another gem in Idina Menzel’s amazing career.
1) Bottoms Up by Brantley Gilbert Brantley Gilbert - Bottoms Up - YouTube
This new track by country singer Brantley Gilbert is a true party anthem. This song is about throwing caution to the wind and having a good time partying and living for the moment. The music video for the song has a cool Bonnie and Clyde outlaw theme, which perfectly complements Brantley’s rough and tough public persona. Brantley has had a great 2013, and I anticipate him becoming even more popular next year.
Favorite TV Shows:
3) Sean saves the world (NBC, Thursdays nights 9/8c)
This show depicts the daily life of a divorced man named Sean. He leads a difficult life due to the fact that he must juggle his work life, parenting his daughter on the weekends, and dealing with his overbearing mother. Things get more difficult for Sean when his boss decides to increase Sean’s work load and hours, at the same time that Sean’s daughter moves in with him full-time. Now Sean must balance the challenges that come from working full-time and being a full-time dad to a teenage girl. This show stars TV veteran Sean Hayes (Will and Grace), and will definitely be a huge hit for NBC.
2) Kirstie (TV Land, Wednesday nights 10/9c)
This new TV Land hit stars TV legends Kirstie Alley, Rhea Pearlman, and Michael Richards. Kirstie Alley plays a Broadway star named Madison Banks. Madison has led a rough life and is considered a train wreck in the Broadway world. One day, her son Arlo (who she gave up for adoption 26 years ago) finds her, and due to the advice of her assistant/best friend Thelma (Rhea Pearlman) and chauffeur Frank (Michael Richards), Madison decides to try to get to know her son. With such an experienced cast, you know that this will be a huge hit for TV Land.
Time for the applause!!!!!!
1)Two Broke Girls ( CBS, Monday nights 8:30/7:30c)
This comedy shows the unlikely friendship of two very different women, who work in a diner. Max Black is streetwise girl from a poor family, who originally looks down on Caroline Channing, the new rich, sophisticated girl who begins working at the diner after her father loses all of his money. The two discover that they share a similar dream of one day owning a cupcake bakery, and decide to save up their money in order to make their dream a reality. This buddy sitcom has already been a huge show for CBS, and I can see it continuing this trend for quite a few more seasons.
3) Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer
This is definitely one of my favorite face moisturizers. I love that this moisturizer does not feel greasy on your face, and is safe for all skin types. The lotion also has SPF 15, so it’s a good alternative, if you’re in a hurry and can’t put on sun block. I would recommend that you add this to your skin care regimen.
2) ‘Our Moment’ perfume by One Direction
I really love this debut fragrance by boy band One Direction. This scent is girly and sweet, within smelling like your took a shower in candy. The overall scent is perfect for teenager or young adults, because it’s youthful and sophisticated. The scent is a bit pricey, but with Christmas right around the corner, this would be a good addition to your Christmas list (you hear that Santa…tick tock).
Ready??? Last But Not Least!
1) Biosilk Therapy Oil
I’ve been using this product for a few years, and I have to say that it is one of my favorite hair products. This is a really good serum to put in your hair after straightening it. I’ve never used this product when curling hair, but I would assume that it would work just as well (if y’all try it, let me know how this product works on hair after you curl it). This product really makes your hair smooth and silky, and the best part is that only a little bit of the product is required to get great results. This is a product that I highly recommend.
Yes, yes, I know that not everyone is a fan of Uggs, but personality I love them. What I love about Ugg boots, is that they are so incredibly warm and cozy. It seriously feels like you’re walking on a cloud, so this makes Uggs the perfect shoe to wear on a casual day, or after a long day of work/school. I also think that Uggs can be very cute and fashionable, and they are easy to style.
Now, since Uggs are the perfect shoe to wear when you want to dress down, you might be wondering what you can wear if you want to dress up. Lately I have really been in to Oxford shoes, because they are the perfect alternative to heels and flats. Personally, I am not very fond of heels, and flats can get a little boring if you wear them a lot. Oxfords give you the comfort of sneakers, but are dressy enough to wear with slacks or other business attire.
OK and Nowwwwww
1) Nail Art
I know this isn’t a new trend, but it has definitely been one of my favorite this year. It is also an extremely appropriate trend to speak about with the holiday season upon us. You can really show your personality through your nail art by making it edgy, classy, or anything in between. This is a really good trend to add a little uniqueness to an outfit, and will definitely get you notice at any event that you will be attending.
3) Ridiculousness (MTV, Thursday nights 10/9c)
This MTV hit show plays viral video of people performing dangerous or strange tasks. This show is hosted by Rob Dyrdek, and features numerous celebrity guests. I think the show has been a really big hit for MTV because it takes advantage of the internet-centric society that we now live in, so I foresee more shows like this popping up on TV.
2) Four weddings ( TLC, Friday nights 10/9c)
This game show style reality show pits four brides and grooms against each other in a "war of the weddings". All four couples attend each other’s weddings and give the weddings scores based on: the dress, the venue, the food, and the overall experience. After the weddings are over, the couple with the highest score wins an expensive honeymoon.
Next we have!!!!!!!!
1) What Would You Do? ( ABC, Tuesday nights 10/9c)
This is a hidden camera show which explores situations involving many social, economic, and political issues. The show employs actors/actresses to play various antagonists and victims, and allows real life people to honestly react to the situations, as they occur. After the reactions are made, the show’s host (John Quińones) comes out and tells everyone that the situation is not real. This show has been instrumental in depicting how our society feels about various hot button topics.
